April 2017 Favorites

As April is quickly coming to an end, I have been looking forward to the start of May and the start of summer. This month I made a goal to try new things, whether that be a recipe or visiting somewhere new on a day trip!

1. I love face masks. Even though I don’t know if many face masks actually do anything for my skin, I still use them on a weekly basis. I ordered a pack of four different Boscia face masks from Sephora, where the first one I tried was this white peel off mask. In the past, I have used the black one but I think I love this one even more! I actually saw results, my skin was glowing and seemed more refreshed than with any mask I’ve tried before!

2. Another beauty item I picked up during the Sephora VIB sale (see my post here), was this facial toner from Fresh. I am a big fan of Fresh products and this toner is no exception. I am amazed at how this clears up my skin! I rarely have problems with my skin but this smooths everything out and brightens my face. Not to mention, it looks beautiful on my counter!

3. I’m not one to sit down and watch an entire season of a show in one day on Netflix, but 13 Reasons Why was an exception to this. I think this show did an amazing job at portraying mental health issues and I loved every episode! If you’re looking for a new show on Netflix I definitely recommend this one.

4. In April, I also tried to get back into reading. The first book I picked was Pretty Girls, by Karin Slaughter. This book is AMAZING. I haven’t been so excited to read a book in a long time. If you enjoy books like Gone Girl, this one is definitely a must-read!

5. My favorite recipe of this month was a grapefruit sorbet, which was featured on Gal Meets Glam. I am lucky enough to have a grapefruit tree in my front yard and I thought this treat would be a healthy snack! Now I reach for this instead of unhealthy treats like popcorn, and I’m so glad that I found this recipe! I’m excited to try it out with oranges or lemons too!

6. With the new collection of arrivals at J.Crew, I was really inspired by dressing up t-shirts. I decided to try on one of the vintage cotton t-shirts, and I fell in love! I bought it in white and I’m excited to stock up on some more colors soon!

7. My last favorite of April was bell sleeved tops. See my post here, where I feature two tops and two different outfits! This pink top from J.Crew is my absolute favorite, but I’m also loving these bell sleeved tops here and here!

Weekly Recap

Hi everyone!

This week has been an exciting week of wrapping up with school and getting ready for the summer! I can’t believe it’s nearly May, the year has gone by so fast. I’ve been looking forward to the temperatures going up and summer to finally begin!

Here’s what I’ve been loving this week..

1. In the past couple of months, I’ve gotten back into reading again. I recently read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter and I thought it was AMAZING! It was so suspenseful and I haven’t flown through a book so fast in a long time! Just a warning though, it is pretty graphic and disturbing- if you are sensitive to that I would not recommend reading this or just skip over those parts!

2. I bought these J.Crew x New Balance running shorts a couple weeks ago, and I love them! They are so comfortable and I love that J.Crew does workout clothes in navy instead of the usual black! As summer is coming, I’ve been getting back into my workout routine and these have been an essential for me.

3. Another favorite of mine this week has to be the black facial mask from Boscia. I’ve had samples of this before and I got another one, every time reminds me how much I love it! I feel so clean after using it, plus it’s so fun to use.

4. This week I’ve been in the mood to clean everything, starting with my Pinterest! I’ve been going through all of my boards and getting rid of old pin’s that I don’t necessarily like anymore. You can follow my Pinterest account here!

5. In the spirit of summer, I have been trying to keep my body hydrated and challenging myself to drink 3 liters of water a day again. This article from laurenconrad.com really describes the perks of drinking water- and I agree with it all! Infusing it with fruit makes it easier to drink that much water and seeing the results really makes it worth it!

Bell Sleeves

Hi everyone!

Today’s blog post is one that I’m super excited about! After searching for my perfect bell sleeve top, I was finally able to find a couple that fit me well and are perfect colors for summer.

I have fallen in love with the bell sleeve trend and I will admit, J.Crew does it beautifully. I love the color of this top and I think it is so cute paired with these shorts! This was a perfect outfit for Easter.IMG_1604IMG_1607Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Top: J.Crew (now on sale!) Shorts: J.Crew Shoes: Tory Burch (color is sold out, but other colors here)

Another outfit with bell sleeves I’ve been loving is this one. My top is from Forever 21 and is also off the shoulder! I paired the top with a cute denim skirt and Steve Madden sandals that I swear by (beyond comfortable and not to mention- super cute!)

Top: Forever 21 Skirt: J.Crew Bow hairtie: J.Crew Shoes: Steve Madden Purse: Kate Spade (sold out, but here is a similar. Lots of Nordstrom Rack’s also have this same style recently!)

I think bell sleeve tops are super cute and I’m so happy I finally hopped on the bandwagon! Both of these tops are still available and the J.Crew one is on sale now! Definitely check out the both of them, they’re perfect for summer!

Sephora VIB Sale

IMG_1958Hi everyone!!

This week was the VIB sale at Sephora, meaning all VIB’s received 15% off of their purchase at the store. Since Sephora only has sales twice yearly, I decided it was a perfect time to go in and buy a couple of things I’ve been eyeing lately!

After reading some reviews, I had decided that I was going to consider purchasing the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner. I wasn’t entirely sold on the product, but after seeing the product in person, I knew I had to get it. Aside from the actual product, the packaging is beautiful. It looks gorgeous sitting on my bathroom counter but also- I love the toner! I’ll write a full review on it later after I’ve been using it for a bit longer, but as of right now it’s amazing!

Another purchase I made was the Bobbi Brown Beach perfume. I had a rollerball of this in the past and I loved it! The scent reminds me of summer and I can’t wait to use it this summer!

My final purchase from the sale was this Dior mascara primer. I started using mascara primer this year (I previously used the Smashbox one) and I’m definitely a fan of this one! It makes your mascara last much longer and provides you with length and volume your mascara by itself cannot provide.

The Sephora VIB sale is my favorite time to restock on favorites and try new things! I can’t wait for the next sale!

I hope everyone has an amazing week!

Weekly Recap

Hello everyone!

So I decided I’m going to start doing a weekly recap post, which I’ll post every Friday and just talk about things I’ve been loving this week!

1. As a massive J.Crew fan, I was devastated to hear about Jenna Lyon’s departure from the company. I love Jenna and the influence she has had on the fashion industry- she will be missed at J.Crew! Here is an article from Vogue remembering Jenna and the amazing things she’s done for fashion.

2. This week was the start to the 15% off for Beauty Insiders at Sephora sale! I visited my store on the first day to pick up some goodies and I’m already wanting to go back for more! Stay tuned later this weekend for a haul and review of the products I bought.

3. J.Crew got new arrivals this week!!!!! I love love love when J.Crew comes out with new pieces, I always find a ton of things I love! Check here to see my current J.Crew wishlist and I posted on my Instagram what I bought from this batch of new goodies.

4. I was beyond devastated saying goodbye to the show Girls this week. I’ve grown to love the stories of the characters and I’m so sad to see the show ending! When I started watching this show I really needed to know that not everyone is perfect, real life is not what it’s like on shows like Gossip Girl or 90210. Watching Girls taught me that it’s okay to not be perfect. Check out this article on Who What Wear about some fun pieces worn during the show.

5. My last love of the week was this candle from Anthropologie. I smelt it when I was in the store the other day and fell in love! It smells similar to the Drybar hair products- which I’ve always loved!

New Arrivals at J.Crew

As summer is quickly approaching, it is time to finally pull out the vibrant colors and fun lightweight dresses from the backs of our closets! Summer is my favorite season and I love dressing for it. J.Crew always has the best collections during the summer, and this most recent one was no exception! I was lucky enough to pick up a few pieces from this new collection and I’m excited to get more pieces as the season continues! Here are a couple of my favorite new things from this most recent collection.

Outfit of the Day 4.17

Hello everyone!

As winter comes to a close, I have been having so much fun pulling my summer clothes out of the back of my closet. As much as I love the holiday season, nothing makes me feel better than wearing fun prints (mainly gingham) and bright colors. Today for work I paired these adorable, Audrey Hepburn-esque gingham pants with a simple grey sweater. When wearing a print as bold as gingham, I always like to pair it with a simple top to make it more work appropriate.

Working at J.Crew has allowed me to pick up so many amazing pieces and these pants are definitely my favorites! I love wearing my Gemma flats to work because they are so comfortable and make standing for 4 hours straight a bit easier!

Top- J.Crew, Pants- Old J.Crew (similar here, here, and here), Shoes- J.Crew (sold out, but other colors here and a similar style for only $12 here!)

Happy Tuesday!

Easter Treats

Hello everyone! For Easter my friend Kiley and I made some fun treats inspired by recipes we saw on Pinterest and took some cute pictures of our adventure!

Follow Kiley’s blog and see her Easter post: http://trendsandtrunks.com/

The first treat we made was Rice Krispie treats that we put orange candy melts to get the color. It was super easy to make and required minimal ingredients! Here is the Pinterest post that has the recipe.

We picked up super cute egg shaped M&M’s and Reese’s Pieces from Target, they were so good!

Our next treat was this chocolate bark, mixed in with pretzels and the M&M’s and Reese’s Pieces. It was also really easy to make, just make sure to make a thick layer of the chocolate as it does melt extremely easy!

After finishing our yummy treats we decided to dye eggs and somehow we got the sprinkles from the chocolate bark to stick on the eggs for decoration. A little messy but an alternative to buying a egg dying kit if you already have the food coloring and vinegar at home to make the dye yourself!

It was so much fun to make these Easter treats with Kiley, Easter is such a fun holiday! Hope everyone had a fun Easter.

Top: old J.Crew, but here are some sizes still available in petite on sale

Jeans: J.Crew
